Google's Nexus 5 smartphone has been listed on the company's online marketplace since its global unveiling and is slated to be launched soon in the country. And it may hit the Indian market as soon as next week.
A tweet by Mumbai-based mobile retailer Mahesh Telecom says that LG, which manufactures the Nexus 5 for Google, is sending stocks of the new smartphone in retail outlets. The company will sell the 16GB variant of Nexus 5 for Rs 29,990, Rs 1,000 more than Google's price for the same model. The stocks will arrive in stores by Monday and carry official LG India warranty, says the tweet.
Online retailer Snapdeal has also started takingpre-orders for Nexus 5 in India for Rs 999, while the rest of the amount has to be paid at the time of delivery.
LG also brought the Nexus 4 in India, while Google did not bring it to the country officially via its Play Store. Soon after the launch of Nexus 5, Google listed it on its India Play Store website under the tag 'Coming Soon'. The 16 and 32GB variants of Nexus 5 have been listed at Rs 28,990 and Rs 29,990 for the Indian market. Google has also revealed that the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet will cost Rs 25,990, while the Nexus 10 tablet launched last year has been priced at Rs 29,990.
The new Nexus 5 smartphone has a 4.95-inch LCD screen with Full HD (1080p) resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 3 panel. It packs the 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood, with 2GB RAM. The device will be available in 16 and 32GB versions (with no microSD support) and come in white and black colours.
On the back, Nexus 5 sports an 8MP camera with optical image stabilization, 1/3.2-inch sensor and f/2.4 aperture. LED flash is present on the back, while a 1.3MP camera is used in front. Its connectivity suite consists of 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and LE, NFC and microUSB. Powered by a 2,300mAh battery, this device has wirelessging.
